NEWSROOM COORDINATORThis is a featured page

The newsroom is a primary activity hub for our event. And as coordinator, you get to be first to know of all the exciting developments as the event unfolds.

You and your team will coordinate and assist with newsroom activities for our event. Essentially, the newsroom consists of at least five computers with wireless connections, a printer, and a breaking news wall.

  • Your team will be in charge of setting up the newsroom table(s) with the proper equipment. A good setup location might be near the refreshments table where people will be walking by often.
  • Coordinate with the supplies team and supplies sign-up to ensure we have all necessary equipment delivered on time to the event. You will also be responsible for making sure all equipment returns to its owners after the event.
  • Create banners: one that says, "Newsroom," and another that says, "Breaking News."
  • Create an instruction sheet to be posted in the newsroom and have a person available to assist people in posting their session notes to the Proceedings page of this wiki site.
  • As the session notes start coming in, print out copies to be posted on the "breaking news" wall so everyone can stay current with our progress. Also have blank paper and pens available for session note-taker resupply.
  • If you find yourself wanting a break from newsroom duties, find someone to cover for you, bring them up to speed, and give them the same freedom to pass the job along as well.

Don't forget to have fun!
